Often blondes can fall into the purple shampoo trap. You see your once glistening bright blonde turn that awful dull boring blonde so you consistently throw toner at it hoping for the best. One of the BIGGEST MISCONCEPTIONS. Purple shampoo is great and has a time and a place‑ to counteract unwanted yellow tones. If a bright a long lasting blonde is what you desire‑ we recommend using a custom hair regime ranging from A deep cleanser, this will remove unwanted product build up, minerals and anything else dulling your hair- A a deep nourishing shampoo and conditioner, Concentrated hair mask once per week and leave in moisturising product after the shampoo.

Often blondes can fall into the trap of using toning shampoos that just aren’t suitable for their hair. As a general rule of thumb, for any super bright blonde we recommend using a toning conditioning treatment once a week or every second time you wash your hair. A colour conditioner will generally result in a more even and less over‑toned blonde as conditioner will seal the cuticle and have better control in the toning process.

You would never attempt makeup without first priming or prepping for success. The exact same goes for styling your hair. You should ALWAYS apply some sort of hydrating or strengthening product once the washing stage is complete. Of the many benefits- you will have much more control of your hair, prevent heat and life damage, reduce frizz and overall improve the quality of your hair. Each of these has a strong heat protection factor and will greatly improve your hair quality and thus prolong your colour.

Some key points

  • ALWAYS follow your stylist advice for homecare and professional product

  • DON’T ever use any sort of heat over prelightened hair without a heat protection

  • Be mindful, living in Melbourne we are exposed to strong chemicals, minerals and metals coming through our waterways. These can have a massive impact on the brightness of your blonde, we would always advise any blonde clients invest in a shower filter to best protect from this.

  • Be careful with that fake tan!!!! (not that I can talk….) it LOVES to build up in blonde hair- try to minimise exposure of your hair to fake tan, sleep with your hair in a shower cap if sleeping in tan and rinse around the neck and ears thoroughly.

  • Remember 40% of a beautiful blonde comes from your commitment to the process, products and advice given by your stylist

I hope this information can help at least one frustrated blondie out there,

and if you’re still feeling stuck or just in need of a glow up, my chair is always open to you.
